The Importance of Competition
As always, I want to encourage everyone to participate in as many tournaments as possible over the Spring and Summer seasons. Perhaps nothing in wrestling is more important than the ability to compete at a high level. Most wrestlers struggle with anxiety, nervousness, and not opening up or executing during competition. You can know all the moves and be the best athlete, but if you cannot allow yourself to compete at your highest level, none of this will matter.
Nothing can help you more with this than an actual wrestling match. To put it simply, the more matches you wrestle the more natural it will become to compete. You will be able to put aside nerves and anxiety, and open up to allow yourself to compete and execute during big matches. The ability to compete at your highest level is one of the most important aspects of being a successful wrestler. Many times it is what separates great wrestlers from everyone else.
